What this area studies

Reconstitution is where a lyophilised peptide stops being a stable powder and starts being a solution with a shelf life.

The choice of diluent is not cosmetic: bacteriostatic water differs from sterile water in that it contains a preservative, which is what allows a vial to be entered more than once without the contents being compromised.

Sterile water is single-entry

Without a preservative, a vial of sterile water is intended for one use. That single difference is why bacteriostatic water exists as its own product.

10 ml

The volume decides the reading

The same 10 mg vial reads 10 units on the syringe with 1 ml of water and 100 units with 10 ml. Same peptide, same vial — a tenfold difference in what you see.

U-100

The marks are not millilitres

An insulin syringe is graduated in U-100 units: 100 units equal 1 ml. A 0.3 ml syringe carries the same marks, it just stops at 30.

How this material is handled
